Sharon Kirk

International sales and Marketing manager

Sharon is an experienced horticulturalist and export marketing professional who has played a leading role in developing the profile of New Zealand premium fruit on the world stage since the early 1990s.

During her career, Sharon has established the export function and elevated the brand profile for multiple leading New Zealand fresh produce companies including her own businesses.

She has an in-depth understanding of international markets, an extensive network and is well respected within the international produce community.

Sharon has a Horticultural Science Degree from Massey University and a Diploma in Management from the Institute of Management. 

Dave Smith

Sales and marketing coordinator

David has a wealth of experience in market development including executing sales and marketing strategies gleaned over more than 20 years as a result of owning and operating his own businesses.

David joined the team in June 2022 and works alongside Sharon Kirk in marketing cherries domestically and internationally. His work includes deepening connections with existing markets and developing emerging markets.

He develops marketing materials and identifies opportunities to showcase and elevate our brand presence on the world stage.

Eduarda Lopez

Marketing assistant

Eduarda Lopez worked in imports and exports for the meat processing industry in her home country of Uruguay before travelling to New Zealand for what has become an unforgettable working holiday experience.

Based at Wanaka, Eduarda, who has a degree in International Business has been able to put her skills to use as sales and marketing assistant for Hortinvest’s cherry and apricot business and is excited to be learning about the summerfruit industry.

She particularly loves working in an excellent office environment with colleagues from all over world sharing their culture, not to mention the beautiful landscapes of Central Otago itself.

Jemma Tutty

Sales and marketing assistant

Jemma is finishing her third year at the University of Otago, where she is pursuing a double degree in Law and Commerce, majoring in International Business with French. After working in HR last summer, she is excited to rejoin the Hortinvest team this season as Sales and Marketing Assistant.

During her previous time with Hortinvest, Jemma gained valuable experience handling a wide range of tasks, from recruiting seasonal staff for the busy summer harvest to managing visa checks, addressing enquiries, and overseeing supplier relationships. Jemma appreciates Hortinvest’s strong sense of teamwork and the collaborative environment, where everyone works together to support each other.

In her free time, Jemma enjoys catching up with friends for coffee, spending time by the lake, and going to the new Reform studio in Three Parks. She values Wanaka’s peaceful atmosphere and believes that it, combined with the supportive team culture at Hortinvest, creates an environment where both social connections and personal well-being thrive. The complimentary cherries and apricots are always a delightful bonus – the cherry on top!
